Pocket Aces, otherwise known as Snake Eyes,  American Airlines, Rockets, or bullets, is the strongest starting a player can get in facebook texas holdem poker. Against any single opponent, your chances of taking the pot are about  85% if you go all in before the flop. So why then do so many people cry about how they’ve lost huge pots with Aces all the time?

Well obviously one of the reasons is just luck of the draw, even with an 85% chance of winning, that means that 15% of people will still lose all the facebook poker chips by going all in. Spread that percentage over a few million players and you’re left with quite a few people who have a bone to pick with the “bullets”.

But the main reason most people lose with Aces is much simpler than odds, its just poor play. Aces can turn the best of players into complete amateurs because people tend to fall in love with this hand. The chance of getting Aces in facebook poker are about 1 in 220, so when it does finally hit, its incredibly hard to lay it down. Even after players realize an opponent might have a better hand after the flop, they just can’t help but throw more and more facebook poker chips at the problem, hoping that it will somehow turn around for them.

Players generally misplay Aces in 2 ways:

Slow play: There’s a big element of excitement when a player gets Aces. Your first instinct is to go all in and see how many players you can get to call, but then another side of you thinks that might scare everyone out and announce that you have the bullets. So you try to drag other players into the game with less than spectacular raises of facebook poker chips, zynga poker chips, or myspace poker chips. Maybe you don’t even raise, you just call another players raise or check it. Knowing the odds a little better might explain why these undersized raises usually end in tears. While Aces may take the pot 85% of the time against one opponent, that number drops down to 73% when there are 2 other players and 64% when there are 3 others. And if 5 other people are in the pot, the odds fall even further down below 50%.

Being starstruck: This is a common mistake among intermediate and beginner players whose skills at reading their opponents hands are not yet refined. While preflop your Aces are usually solid, a flop of 7h 8h Jh opens up the table to all kinds of flushes and straights and your hand strength plummets. But players are often so thrilled to get pocket aces and so convinced that it’s finally their shot and winning a huge pot of facebook poker chips that they turn a blind eye to any possibility that their hand might have already been bested by an opponent’s. They continue to ram more and more poker chips into the pot in the hope that either everyone else will fold, or they’ll land another ace and get trips. This situation rarely ends well.

There is no shame in winning a medium sized pot when your opponents fold to your big pre-flop raise. It’s just part of the game, and it will keep you from being outdrawn and overplaying. There is a lesson to be learned here. Don’t fall in love with Aces. Just like a woman, if you hang on to them longer than you should - they’ll take all your money and leave you broke.

this is true not only for beginners but even for a lot of experienced players because aces are very hard to put down

  • asimo says:

ya gotta go big preflop or go home with bullets but you can play them differently in limit and no limit. either way good read thanks.

yea going all in work somtime yes but even wiht AA somtime you get call from stupids with with 22 and 55 then get anther 2 or 5 on flop.

facebok poker is shit only good in high table

Aces are the worst hand in facebook poker because it doesnt matter how much you raise some donk will generally call you with a low pair or AK AQ AJ or something suited and then find the flush on the flop. Save your facebook poker chips and just fold ACE ACE!

Great post about pocket aces. Ive seen so many players go down in flames trying to place the aces in facebook poker, or any kind of poker for that matter. It honestly doesn’t matter what time of game you’re playing someone will always knock themselves out of the game because they put way too much trust in the bullets.

how can anyone have beef with aces man. maybe thats the case in facebook poker but in real life aces are golden how can you argue with a 85% chance of winning?

1 in 220 odds? it seems like aces come once every 20 hands in facebook poker, or at least it seems that way to me. Last night I played for 3 1/2 hours and got AA no less than 3 times..each time I went all in with all my facebook chips and each time I ended up winning (once I almost lost to a flush but the other guy missed it). But I have seen instances where it just doesnt work out also..luck is luck I guess

  • pokemon says:

yeah it seems like facebook poker has skewed odds, the chances of getting bullets are significantly higher if you ask me. On a table of 9 players it seems like someone has AA at least one in every 5 hands which would make it 1 in 50 of getting AA. Going on all in every time is a good way to lose your facebook poker chips quickly though.

good article about what to do with aces but I love slow playing them in facebook poker even at the risk of being outdrawn by someone with a flush or straight. Theres nothing like drawing someones facebook chips into the pot only to crush them at the end :) ofcourse that works both ways I guess because if they catch their cards on the river then its just a big mess :P

  • admin says:

Rose, thats what usually separates the intermediate players from the experts though, but it all depends on your reasons for playing. If you’re only goal is win the most poker chips then you should play it correctly according to the odds. If you’re just having fun and drawing in other playings and taking their facebook chips and watching them squirm is fun for you, then yes slow playing aces and drawing them in is great. :)

  • jorgen says:

i agree with playing them strongly especially in facebook texas holdem no limit

gotta make sure others have enough chips in their stacks to make calling your raise a real risk tho otherwise facebook players tend to call just about anythin

    my 2 cents

  • carlos says:

aces are garbage in facebook poker, just throw them away man

  • tina says:

every time I slow play aces in facebook poker I get burned, Id be better off trying my luck with cheats or bots in poker than playing correctly theres so many donks that are willing to call anything

  • mohammad says:

too many stupid player inm facebook poker to play aces right if I go all in for 100 millions chips they will just call with nothing because they want to be excite and have fun

  • tanveer says:

Anyone who consistently loses with pocket Aces should really think about giving their facebook poker chips to a friend or even a stranger and just quitting the game altogether.

  • rod says:

so I should go all in with pocket aces all the time? is that the point you’re trying to get across or did I misread the article?

  • melis says:

you have to play pocket aces very different in facebook texas holdem than you would in regular poker games because you have to factor in the people who just dont care and will call with almost any hole pair. facebook chips arent real money so they dont have that to hold them back from calling your AA with their pocket 33 or 55, they probably just say to hell with it hope they get three of a kind on the flop.

  • manjumi says:

aces are killer, they’ll rob you blind in texas holdem poker. I saw a guy raise 600 million poker chips with AA, some guy with J 6 suited called it. Then the flop came 6 6 6 and the J 6 guy went all in. The guy with Aces almost HAS to call at that point and called a 2 billion chip raise and lost. It was insane.

  • julius says:

I love aces I dont know why you guys have a problem with them :)

  • jessa says:

I dont love aces but I love the poker chips they bring me when I get ‘em lol
